Students already employed in the medical field can complete externship competencies at their workplace with prior approval. The student’s manager or supervisor must contact the SCC Director of Externships to confirm eligibility and compliance. However, approval depends on the employer’s discretion. In some cases, certain facilities may approve clinical practice, while others may not.
