Our History: A Legacy of Excellence in Career Education

Stellar Career College has a long-standing tradition of providing high-quality, career-focused education. Our journey began in 1986 when Lenore Hughes founded Computer Tutor in Modesto, California, with the mission of improving children’s reading, comprehension, and mathematical skills.

By 1989, we expanded our focus to offer computer software training and clerical programs for adults, followed by accounting courses in 1992. Under the leadership of R. George Rawe, who became Director in 1997 and later Owner in 1998, we introduced medical and computer technical programs to meet the evolving needs of the job market.

With these expanded offerings, the institution rebranded as Computer Tutor Business & Technical Institute in July 2002. Our commitment to academic excellence was recognized when we received accreditation from ACCSC in March 2003. In February 2014, we moved to a new, state-of-the-art facility at 4300 Sisk Rd., Modesto, CA.

A new chapter began on August 1, 2017, when Stellar Career College, LLC became the new owner, with Dr. Zulfiqar A. Satti taking the helm as President and CEO. This transition led to another milestone, renaming Computer Tutor Business & Technical Institute to Stellar Career College in February 2018.

Continuing our mission of expanding educational access, we proudly got approved by the Illinois Board of Higher Education on July 9, 2019.
