Program Overview

The Medical Assisting with Phlebotomy Technician Program prepares students to assist medical providers by performing clinical and administrative duties in hospitals, clinics, and medical centers — working closely with registered nurses and physicians as valued members of the healthcare team.

The curriculum includes medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, fundamentals of pharmacology, microbiology, and immunology, along with law and ethics and effective communication. Students become familiar with medical equipment, patient-care management, and administrative processes such as medical records and insurance documentation.

The course also includes basic laboratory procedures and specialized training in phlebotomy, focusing on safe and accurate blood-drawing techniques. A required clinical externship offers hands-on experience in real healthcare settings. Upon successful completion, students receive a State-approved Certificate of Completion and become eligible to take the National Certification Exams for Certified Medical Assistant and Certified Phlebotomy Technician.
