Vascular Sonography Technologist Program at Stellar Career College

Program Overview

The Vascular Sonography Technologist program at Stellar Career College prepares students to become skilled vascular sonographers capable of assisting physicians in diagnosing and treating vascular disorders. The program emphasizes non-invasive vascular imaging techniques, patient care, and safety protocols. Students will gain hands-on experience through a required clinical externship and develop expertise in identifying vascular abnormalities such as blockages, clots, and aneurysms. Upon successful completion, graduates receive a Certificate of Completion and become eligible to sit for the ARRT Vascular Sonography Examination.

Program Objectives

The Vascular Sonography Technologist program at Stellar Career College equips students with the essential skills to perform vascular imaging procedures, assist in diagnosing vascular disorders, and support physicians in treatment planning. Students will learn to assess blood flow, detect abnormalities, and evaluate the effectiveness of vascular treatments. The program also emphasizes patient care and safety during all procedures.

  • Monitor blood flow to organs and tissues and detect vascular irregularities such as clots or blockages.
  • Assist in planning treatments by identifying issues like plaque buildup, emboli, or aneurysms.
  • Evaluate the outcomes of vascular procedures such as grafts or angioplasties.
  • Determine vascular conditions such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or varicose veins using non-invasive imaging techniques.

Program Overview

The Vascular Sonography Technologist program at Stellar Career College prepares graduates becomes vascular sonographers. Vascular technologists assist medical doctors in the diagnosis and treatment of a several vascular disorders in the human body. Vascular technologists perform non-invasive vascular exams to properly assess vascular disease or illness. VST professionals compile information that is gathered on an exam to give a preliminary impression. These professionals are trained in vascular scanning techniques and vascular disorders. The Vascular Sonography Technologist program also prepares the student to learn patient care and safety. 

The program also offers clinical externship for Vascular Sonography Technologist (VST) that is required for the certification. After successfully completing the program, students will be awarded Certificate of Completion from our College approved by the State. Graduates will be eligible to take Vascular Sonography Examination of American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Program Objectives

  • Help monitor the blood flow to organs and tissues throughout the body,
  • Locate and identify blockages (stenosis) and abnormalities like plaque or emboli and help plan for their effective treatment,
  • Detect blood clots (deep venous thrombosis (DVT) in the major veins of the legs or arms,
  • Determine whether a patient is a good candidate for a procedure such as angioplasty,
  • Evaluate the success of procedures that graft or bypass blood vessels,
  • Evaluate varicose veins.
  • Determine if there is an enlarged artery (aneurysm),

Program Admission Requirements

  • Applicants With A High School Diploma Or Associate Degree
  1. The entrance exam is online and offered free of cost via our LMS. Please email me a request to take the Entrance Exam at the following email: stellarcollegechicago@gmail.com. A login link with a username and a password will be sent to you.
  2. Submit your transcripts immediately if interested in DMS. Priority is given to those with 80% or above in English, Mathematics, and Science Courses.
    Applicants interested in other programs except DMS, skip step 2 and continue with the next step.
  3. Complete the Admission Process by sending the following documents in PDF format via email:
    • ID
    • Official transcript (a copy of Diploma if attainable)
    • Resume
    • Letter of Recommendation
    • Essay
  4. Complete Online Assessments: Digital Literacy and Distance Education Orientation Course.
  5. Interview (scheduled after application).

Applicants Must fill out and sign Enrollment Agreement and Acceptance Letter that outlines their obligations toward the institute.

  • Entrance Assessment

Applicants must pass the following required assessment tests:

  1. Stellar Career College Learning Management Orientation Completion Test
  2. Stellar Career College Digital Literacy Test

These assessment tests can be taken online or at the College campus by appointment. Assessment tests are offered free of cost to prospective students.
