Program Overview

The Mammography Technologist Program at Stellar Career College prepares registered radiographers to advance their careers as certified mammographers. This program combines essential didactic coursework with hands-on clinical training to build foundational knowledge and technical skills for entry-level mammography practice. Students will receive instruction in anatomy, mammography positioning, instrumentation, imaging principles, and quality assurance. Upon successful completion, graduates earn a Certificate of Completion and become eligible to take the ARRT Mammography Examination.

Program Objectives

The Mammography Technologist Program at Stellar Career College equips students with the knowledge, technical skills, and clinical experience needed to become certified mammographers. The program emphasizes safe imaging practices, effective communication, and technical proficiency in mammography procedures. Students will be prepared to operate imaging equipment, perform patient positioning, and evaluate image quality in a clinical setting.

  • Apply radiation safety protocols and comply with government regulations to protect patients and staff.
  • Interpret imaging procedure orders and position patients for optimal diagnostic views.
  • Operate and maintain radiologic equipment and evaluate image quality for diagnostic purposes.

Program Overview

The Mammography Technologist program at Stellar Career College prepares graduates becomes Mammography Technologist. The MT program offers knowledge and cognitive skills needed for entry level mammographer. This program aims to give opportunity for students to complete both didactic coursework and clinical skills experience necessary to prepare to meet eligibility for the professional certification in this field. The program focuses on specific skills and knowledge necessary to become proficient in this field.

The MT program prepares registered radiographers to become registered mammographers. Includes instruction in anatomy and physiology, mammography instrumentation, mammography positioning, principles and procedures of mammography, and quality assurance.

The program also offers clinical externship for Mammography Technologist that is required for the certification. After successfully completing the program, students will be awarded the Certificate of Completion from Stellar Career College approved by the State. Graduates will be eligible to take Mammography Examination of American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Program Objectives

  • Apply radiation safety in the clinical setting,
  • Interpret orders for diagnostic imaging procedures,
  • Demonstrate effective communication in a healthcare setting, and
  • Review and evaluate developed x-rays, video tape, or computer-generated information to determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes,
  • Operate or oversee operation of radiologic or magnetic imaging equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes,
  • Position patient on examining table and set up and adjust equipment to obtain optimum view of specific body area as requested by physician,
  • Process exposed radiographs using film processors or computer-generated methods,
  • Apply knowledge and learning to the professional development in the field of mammography.
  • Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety of patients and staff,

Applicants Must fill out and sign Enrollment Agreement and Acceptance Letter that outlines their obligations toward the institute.

  • Entrance Assessment

Applicants must pass the following required assessment tests:

  1. Stellar Career College Learning Management Orientation Completion Test
  2. Stellar Career College Digital Literacy Test

These assessment tests can be taken online or at the College campus by appointment. Assessment tests are offered free of cost to prospective students.
