Program Overview

The Vascular Sonography Technologist program at Stellar Career College prepares students to become skilled vascular sonographers capable of assisting physicians in diagnosing and treating vascular disorders. The program emphasizes non-invasive vascular imaging techniques, patient care, and safety protocols. Students will gain hands-on experience through a required clinical externship and develop expertise in identifying vascular abnormalities such as blockages, clots, and aneurysms. Upon successful completion, graduates receive a Certificate of Completion and become eligible to sit for the ARRT Vascular Sonography Examination.

Vascular Sonography Technologist

The Vascular Sonography Tech (VST) program at Stellar Career College prepares graduates becomes vascular sonographers. Vascular technologists assist medical doctors in the diagnosis and treatment of a several vascular disorders in the human body. Vascular technologists perform non-invasive vascular exams to properly assess vascular disease or illness. VST professionals compile information that is gathered on an exam to give a preliminary impression. These professionals are trained in vascular scanning techniques and vascular disorders. The Vascular Sonography Technologist program also prepares the student to learn patient care and safety. 

The program also offers clinical externship for Vascular Sonography Technologist (VST) that is required for the certification. After successfully completing the program, students will be awarded Certificate of Completion from our College approved by the State. Graduates will be eligible to take Vascular Sonography Examination of American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Program Objectives

Vascular Sonography Technologists perform the following:

  1. Help monitor the blood flow to organs and tissues throughout the body,
  2. Locate and identify blockages (stenosis) and abnormalities like plaque or emboli and help plan for their effective treatment,
  3. Detect blood clots (deep venous thrombosis (DVT) in the major veins of the legs or arms,
  4. Determine whether a patient is a good candidate for a procedure such as angioplasty,
  5. Evaluate the success of procedures that graft or bypass blood vessels,
  6. Determine if there is an enlarged artery (aneurysm), and
  7. Evaluate varicose veins.

Program Admission Requirements

Prerequisites

Applicants must hold a valid Radiology/X-Ray, Nuclear Medicine, or Radiation Therapy license to enroll in this program

Admission

  1. Enrollment is open for students on any day of the week. They will also be notified about the start date after confirmation of their registration.
  2. You must submit a high school diploma, General Education Diploma (GED), a college transcript, or an equivalent certificate.

Registration

Applicants must fill out and sign an enrollment agreement that outlines their obligations toward the institute.

Entrance Assessment

Applicants must pass the following required assessment tests:
  1. Stellar Career College Learning Management Orientation Completion Test
  2. Stellar Career College Digital Literacy Test
These assessment tests can be taken online or at the College campus by appointment. Assessment tests are offered free of cost to prospective students.
