Exciting Time at the Campus
It is an exciting time at the Stellar Career College (SCC), Chicago downtown campus, as the College is getting ready to launch its fall 2021 cohorts. New cohorts will be launched for all the training programs including Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist, Radiologic/ X-Ray Technologist, Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (DMS)/ Ultrasound Tech, Echocardiography/Noninvasive Cardiovascular Sonographer, Sterile Processing Technician, Surgical Technologist, Dialysis Technologist with Phlebotomy Technician, and Medical Assisting with Phlebotomy Technician.
SCC is approved by the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE) as a private vocational career college. SCC is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC); a US Dept. of Education approved accrediting agency.
Stellar Career College’s training programs are now WIOA approved. These training programs are Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) approved. Local Workforce Innovation Boards have identified them as programs that are qualified for WIOA-funded training. One of the requirements for many of these programs is that they lead to high-demand occupations in Illinois. SCC is an award-winning institution. In 2013 the College was awarded ACCSC’s highest award “School of Excellence” and in 2019, the College received the “School of Distinction” award from ACCSC as well.
The Healthcare professions SCC provides training in are well-paid professions. According to the US Department of Labor, in the State of Illinois, these are the salary/wage info: MRIs $74,530 annually, RT $62,390 annually, DMS $78,700 annually, CCT $48,560 annually, Dialysis technologists $43, 424 annually, Phlebotomy $35, 660 annually, ST $49,060 annually, MA $36, 560 annually, and Healthcare Tech (including sterile processing technician) $46,690 annually. The opportunities for advancement range from a lead technologist to supervisor or head of the department.
SCC uses a Hybrid model of instruction delivery. The hybrid model provides opportunities for students to gain theoretical knowledge via virtual/ online classes and learn vital skills in hands-on, on-campus, and instructor-led classes. The hybrid model presents the best of both approaches of virtual/online and on-campus instruction delivery. It offers flexibility, accessibility, and convenience of virtual/online environment as well offers vital opportunities to learn hands-on skills under the direct supervision of professionals in on-campus hands-on classes. We offer flexible class schedules with the option of online/ virtual classes and on-campus hands-on training.
All of our training programs are well aligned with the National Certification Credentials. The Radiology / X-Ray, MRI and DMS programs are American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) approved. Graduates are prepared to receive credentials upon completion of ARRT’s eligibility and SCC’s rigorous certified training programs.
Echo/NICVS prepares graduates to get the Cardiac Ultrasound Echocardiography certification of Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI). The Surgical Tech program prepares graduates to get the Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) certification of the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
The Dialysis Tech program prepares the graduates for two certifications: Certified Hemodialysis Technologist (CHT) of Board of Nephrology Examiners Nursing and Technology (BONENT) and National Certified Phlebotomy Technician (NCPT) of NCCT.
SPT program prepares graduates to get Sterile Processing Technician / Central Sterile Processing / Scrub Tech / Sterilization Tech Certification Exam of Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD). The dialysis program curriculum is aligned with The International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM).
Medical Assisting with Phlebotomy prepares graduates to the National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) and National Certified Phlebotomy Technician (NCPT) of NCCT. MA curriculum is aligned with The Certified Professional Biller (CPB) and The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). MA program also includes training in EKG/ ECG Tech.
